The Council is working with a team of specialists in the re-use of historic buildings to identify how we can bring Upton House back into full use and make it financially sustainable for the future. Our objectives are to;

  1. Find new, exciting uses for Upton House to bring it back to life and make it financially secure, with little need for subsidies.
  2. Make the House accessible to everyone in our community and beyond.
  3. Ensure the House and Country Park work well together and support each other.
  4. Create a strong vision that will attract the grants and funding needed to make the House viable.
  5. Keep local people involved in shaping the future of Upton House.

Let’s talk about the future – update

We’d invited you to share your own suggestions with us on the ideas board at BCP Council’s digital engagement platform: haveyoursay.bcpcouncil.gov.uk/en-GB/projects/upton-house-future

The ideas board closed 08 February 2026. The page linked to above remains online and submitted ideas can be read, but no longer voted on.

Many thanks to all those that took part. We will now consider the pros and cons of each idea, looking at things like costs, demand, accessibility and impact on the historic building. We will then draw up a shortlist of options which will be presented for consultation in the spring.
