Electric vehicle charge points at Upton Country Park

We are pleased to announce the installation of public charge points in the main car park at Upton Country Park to meet the growing demand for Electric Vehicle charging amenities. These charging points are to the left, near the Welcome Centre, as you enter the main car park.

The provision of charge points is part of BCP Council’s Public Electric Vehicle charging infrastructure strategy and is a commitment to promote and enable EV uptake in Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole.

Charging your vehicle

If you use an Electric Vehicle Charging Point (EVCP) at Upton Country Park you will need to pay the correct parking fee as well as the charging tariff. You’ll also need to adhere to any other parking restrictions in place.

You can only park in EVCP charging bays if your vehicle is actively being charged, you must disconnect and vacate the bay as soon as possible after you have finished charging so others can use it.

Charging times and tariffs (as at Friday 8 November 2024)

  • Rapid chargers (40 minutes to charge) – 72p per Kwh
  • Fast chargers (4 hours to charge) – 56p per Kwh

Reporting an issue with a charger

The new EVCPs are funded and operated by Mer Charging UK. If you are experiencing an issue with a charge point, please contact them 24/7 on 020 3884 2768. For non-urgent enquiries email hello.uk@mer.eco.

The Upton Country Park team do not have any access to the chargers and are unable to resolve any issues with them.

Accessible parking bays have been relocated

The Electric Vehicle Charging Points needed to be installed in a location that allowed easy access to the electricity supply. This meant that we needed to re-locate the accessible parking bays, which can now be found in front of the Welcome Centre.

There has been no change in the number of accessible parking bays in the car park as a result of the move.
