Two great achievements are currently being celebrated by the team of staff and volunteers at Upton Country Park!
Firstly, we have been awarded a Green Flag for the 11th year running, which means once again we have been recognised as one of the top green spaces in the country, something we are all very proud of.
On top of this success, Upton Country Park has also become the first site in the Borough of Poole, and only the third site in the whole of Dorset, to achieve the Green Heritage Award, a fantastic triumph.
Green Heritage accreditation is given in recognition of attaining the required standard in the management and interpretation of a site of local or national historic importance, with applications judged against a number of criteria. These include understanding, acknowledging and sharing the heritage value of the site alongside conserving, enhancing and helping visitors enjoy the site for its heritage value too.
Our dedicated team constantly work to maintain the highest standards possible for visitors to Upton Country Park and we are delighted this continues to be recognised. Learn more about the Green Flag and Green Heritage Award scheme at www.greenflagaward.co.uk
Country Park Accreditation
The team at Upton Country Park is delighted to announce that we have been awarded official Country Park accreditation from Natural England. In order to achieve accreditation, it is necessary for the Park to meet a number of criteria, ensuring that we deliver the essential facilities and services to make the Park accessible to the public and to meet their needs.
In addition to the physical aspects of the Park, accreditation focuses on a number of elements including the management of biodiversity and the preservation of a historical environment, the delivery of a full events programme and opportunities for community involvement, promoting healthy living and environmental awareness.
Accredited status is valid for three years and recognises the time and effort put into the successful management and operation of Upton Country Park by staff and volunteers, to provide award-winning surroundings for the local community to enjoy.
